Circus performers pose on Brighton seafront to promote Carnesky’s Showwomxn Sideshow Spectacular

On Saturday 18 May, circus performers arrived in Brighton to promote Brighton Festival’s Carnesky’s Showwomxn Sideshow Spectacular, an upcoming outdoor extravaganza which celebrates the forgotten women of circus and the city’s history of seaside variety.

Performers including contortionist Rebecca Rennison, hula hoop performer Symoné, whip-cracker Lucifire, contemporary clown Meg Hodgson, Bollywood performers Kaajel Patel and Sarjana along with compere Marisa Carnesky, paraded through Brighton, surprising audiences with their incredible skills and stopping at the abandoned West Pier for a photo opportunity.

Carnesky’s Showomxn Sideshow Spectacular is part of Brighton Festival 2024 – the largest annual curated multi-arts festival in England – running 4-26 May. The hour-long show will run non-stop on the hour from 2pm on Saturday 25 May and from 12pm on Sunday 26 May. In an hour-long experience, audiences will be greeted by a series of elevated sideshow stages, an outdoor wrestling ring and an aerial arena installed against the urban backdrop of Elder Place, just 7 minutes from Brighton Station.
