Don’t miss your final chance to visit Martlets’ Shaun by the Sea this week

Shaun by the Sea, which is raising funds for Martlets, ends on Sunday 5 November 2023. The art trail campaign has been a great success and features 43 large Shaun the Sheep sculptures and 77 little sculptures.

The individually designed sculptures have been displayed across Brighton & Hove, the Deans and the Havens since Saturday 9 September in order to raise funds for Martlets Hospice.

The sculptures were all designed by local artists and sponsored by local businesses and organisations. The trail includes a free app that has been downloaded an incredible 10,000 times and offers unique rewards, competitions and discounts from the art trail’s sponsors.

Shaun by the Sea has been provided free for the community to visit, although Martlets asks that people who have enjoyed visiting the trail consider fundraising for the charity or making a donation.

The sculptures will be removed from public display from this Sunday before being refurbished ahead of the Farewell Event between 24 – 26 November 2023. Visitors will be able to see all 120 Shaun sculptures, as well as take part in workshops and performances and visit Santa’s Grotto.

Auctioning the sculptures

All the large sculptures will then be auctioned off on Monday 27 November to raise funds for Martlets. The small sculptures will return to their creators – schools, nurseries, community groups and care homes.

Claire Kidd, Head of Fundraising at Martlets said: “We hope our community have had a baa-rilliant time visiting our Shauns since 9 September. Thank you to everyone who has supported us – whether you’ve donated, bought tickets to the farewell, fundraised or bought some merchandise – we really appreciate your support.

“You have just a few days left to visit our Shauns in public locations across the city, but you can see them again one final time at our Farewell Event at the end of the month.”

Tickets to the Farewell Event are available to purchase from just £7.50 for adults and £3.50 for children now.
