The Hawth Crawley announces Spring season schedule

The Hawth Crawley has announced its Spring season. There will be the ever-popular mix of West End shows, top-class comedy, family performances, theatre, dance and music including tributes to many of the best in the business.

Jesus Christ Superstar (Mar 18-23) kicks off a run of spectacular musicals this Spring. Originally staged in London’s Regent’s Park Open Air Theatre, this production won the 2017 Olivier Award for Best Musical Revival and is one not to be missed. Audiences can also look forward to Calendar Girls the Musical (Apr 9 -13), a phenomenon inspired by the well-known true story of a group of ordinary women who set about doing an extraordinary thing.

Two parody musicals also make their way to Crawley this season; Stranger Sings (Feb 9) is a wild, irreverent twist on the Netflix series and Unfortunate – The Untold Story of Ursula the Sea Witch (Apr 1 & 2) stars Shawna Hamic (Orange is the New Black) and River Medway (Ru Paul’s Drag Race UK) to tell all about this Disney diva with an original pop soundtrack and filthy humour.

There’s fantastic stand-up comedy for those wanting even more laughs, including Stewart Lee (Feb 2), Ed Gamble (Mar 28), Geoff Norcott (Apr 5) and Troy Hawke in the Theatre, plus Sam Avery (Feb 9), Connor Burns (Feb 20), Ria Lina (Apr 4)and Emmanuel Sonubi (Apr 27) the Studio. Whatever tickles your funny bone you’ll find a night to remember with us.

Music is always a key part of The Hawth’s programme and that’s certainly true in 2024. The Royal Philharmonic Orchestra return with a special Valentine’s Concert (Feb 18), plus a Brass and Wind Ensembles will perform in the Studio for a more intimate experience. There are also tributes to suit all tastes, from Michael Jackson (Feb 10 & Apr 24), Abba (Feb 15) and Adele (Mar 14) to Take That (Mar 15), Bob Marley (Mar 26), Johnny Cash (May 2)and Taylor Swift (May 16), among many others.

Families have lots to look forward to as Fireman Sam (Feb 12) takes everyone on a Great Camping Adventure, Peppa Pig (Feb 28 & 28) has a Fun Day Out, Sooty (Apr 6) celebrates his 75th anniversary and children’s favourite picture book, The Tiger Who Came to Tea (May 3 & 4) is brought to life on stage. Young ones and their grown-ups can also look forward to Palaver Party (Mar 16) in the Studio; a fabulous performance party with music, DIY costume making, party games and more all hosted by a spectacular lineup of drag and cabaret performers.
