More than £2,000 raised for Parkinson’s UK

Members of the Active Hastings Parkinson’s exercise class, and their family and friends, took part in the six-mile ‘Walk for Parkinson’s’ event in Lullingstone Country Park and raised an amazing £2,000 for Parkinson’s UK.

Heather, from the Active Hastings team, said: “I just want to say a huge congratulations to everyone who took park in the Walk for Parkinson’s event. It was such an amazing achievement for members of the group to take on such a big challenge, and it was lovely to see their friends and family supporting them every step of the way.”

Councillor Andy Batsford, lead councillor for Health and Culture at Hastings Borough Council, said: “We hope the Active Hastings Exercise for Parkinson’s class empowers the Parkinson’s community to feel more confident in taking part in physical activity. I would like to congratulate everyone who took part in the walk, you are all inspirational.”

Whether you’ve had Parkinson’s for some time, or if you’ve recently been diagnosed, you will find a warm welcome at the Active Hastings Exercise for Parkinson’s class. The class is open to people with Parkinson’s and their friends and is delivered by a team of trained instructors, who have undertaken training to support people with Parkinson’s to be active.

The class takes place every Tuesday at Ore Community Centre, to find out more click here.
